Even on the days when you have a lot to do, remember what Jesus has done. While that is cheesy, it is true. When you’re in the midst of the hustle and bustle of life, don’t forget that Jesus never asked you to be busy. Instead, he asked you to love others big and not to constantly work to make your name, income, and job bigger. Be diligent, but never forget your purpose is not found in man-made titles. Your purpose is found by sitting at your Creator’s feet.
A lot is going on these days. Even on the days, I get a full 8 hours of sleep, I wake up tired. Having five kids is exhausting! It’s no wonder I run on caffeine, sleep for about 5 hours per night, and barely get a chance to spend time with my closest friends anymore. Jesus won’t be able to take all the things you have to do away… but He can give you peace and perspective through it all. Your outlook on life changes when you sit at Jesus’ feet for even 15 minutes a day. Prayer changes the perspective.
In the Bible, two women came together to prepare for Jesus: Mary and Martha. But one prepared their heart, while the other prepared their worldly possessions… During the time when Christ sat at Mary’s feet, Martha was cleaning the house and preparing for the party. Martha became upset that Mary wasn’t helping her “prepare.” You can’t blame her, right? It’s like trying to do everything for your family… But Jesus reminded us one thing when he replied…
“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
You may be worried about a lot right now. Whether that is kids or that relative… whether it’s gossip or fake friends.. whatever it is, you may forget that you are loved and wanted. Choose what Mary chose, and choose the better. Your Savior sits before you, waiting for you to sit at His feet and be with Him.
